    Operation Hulkout: Day 691

    10/10, Phase III, Day 15

I hope I hadn't picked up some bad habits from the one-armed DB bench presses such as lifting my foot off the floor even slightly instead of pressing down. Whenever I catch myself about to do that, I can usually correct myself in time, but when all your attention is trained towards your upper body, it's all too easy to forget the lower half.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 690

    10/10, Phase III, Day 13

Glad the week's over and done with. On Tuesday, I didn't feel up to doing cardio so I swapped it with a yoga session, and it was the first time I tried it without my YRG book or my iPhone vids guiding me. I'm sure I missed a couple of sequences, but I worked up a good sweat anyway.

Next, on Thursday, I took my rest day early since I came home late the night before watching Transformers 2 (WTF, Michael Bay?), and today I ended up with another Saturday workout, where I didn't mind waiting for the equipment to free up since I wasn't in any rush (unlike if I worked out on a Friday) and pretty much given up sticking to the rest periods (and yet, I still lost 1kg this week).

I'll most likely push Friday's workout into Saturday again next week,  but I hope I can get enough rest before I start with the last phase of 10/10 the following Monday.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 689

    10/10, Phase III, Day 10

Dunno if it's the uni-lateral workouts that's making me hit the hay earlier than usual, but Wednesday's workout was majorly exhausting because of the single-leg exercises, which, even after all these years, I'm still confused over their conflicting definitions. For example, I've seen the same movement depicted for both single-leg deadlifts and single-leg squats. (Thanks for nuthin', Intarwebs.) To get past this, I've been making sure one of those exercises hits my quads and the other hits my hamstrings, but one of these days, it would really nice to finally get some definitive answers.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 688

    10/10, Phase III, Day 8

Yesterday, it was nice to know that I could still do one-armed (non-alternating) DB bench presses at 100lbs. despite being almost 40lbs. lighter the last time I tried it. It's much easier once you get the balancing act right since you're not wasting energy keeping the damn thing from falling on you.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 687

    10/10, Phase III, Day 6

If there's one good thing that came out from yesterday's episode, it's that it might be better
for the next two weeks that I pushed Friday's workout to early Saturday morning where there are fewer people around to piss off (no, not really Smile) when I'm staking claims on 3 pieces of equipment. It wasn't as bad in the first fat loss phase where only 3 of the exercises were unilateral and I spent less time over-all. Now, all of them are unilateral, and despite my best efforts, sometimes I can't help but take a breather between limbs. (Lactic acid build-up and all that.)

    Operation Hulkout: Day 686

    10/10, Phase III, Day 3

Been too zonked out at home to blog about my workout two days ago (wasn't great, wasn't bad), and this morning, I was shocked--SHOCKED--to see that the gym was unexpectedly closed over an emergency
electrical repair. Unfortunately there was really no easy way to inform those of us who come in that time as the gym's website is only used for promotional purposes. I thought about using the company gym instead, but then I realized I only had a towel for a shower afterwards and not one for during the workout where I get all sweaty and stuff. Ah well, there's always tomorrow.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 685

    10/10, Phase III, Day 1

I start off this new phase with a new notebook as I put the old one to rest, which came at the end of Phase II like last year's, coincidentally enough. It took me around 13 and a half months to fill it up, and when I compared it with my even older notebooks, I could see my handwriting degrading. Before long I might have to start using my iPhone at the gym so I can manage to record my progress. Open-mouthed

On another note (sans book), I had a great time during my 3-day mini-break, and despite all the extra food (especially carbs) I had eaten and not going to the gym, I actually lost weight over the weekend. Then again, the place I visited is known for its really fresh fruits and vegetables, and I got a lot of rest and relaxation while I was there.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 684

    10/10, Phase II, Day 17

Phase II, which I wrapped up yesterday, seems to have gone by more quickly compared to when I did it last year, and as far as my weight is concerned, I gained back what I lost in Phase I, which--while it wasn't 5lbs.--was the intention. Next week I start Phase III, the dreaded Uni-lateral phase, and I have a feeling it's going to be a looong 3 weeks.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 683

    10/10, Phase II, Day 16

Getting enough sleep at night staves off the strain of doing consecutive lifting days of which I only have to do one more tomorrow before I take a four-day break from lifting, which coincides with an upcoming long weekend where I plan to take an out-of-town trip with some friends. So glad that 10/10 has so many days' rest after a Hypertrophy phase.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 682

    10/10, Phase II, Day 15

If it weren't for the annoying twinge my left adductor developed last Wednesday from Reverse lunges, today's workout would've been decent. As it was, I couldn't make my Front squats heavier even by just 10lbs., but better to be safe than sorry. Looks like I also won't be making the lunges heavier either.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 681

    10/10, Phase II, Day 12

I've been adding a few more reps to the One-arm push-ups as my core gets more used to the strain. Even though Push-ups aren't prescribed in Phase III, I think I'll slip this version into one of my cardio days.

I also upped the Good mornings a little bit, but I switched over to using an Oly bar, which, despite being a bit harder to balance, has the advantage of letting me progress in 5lbs.-increments rather than 10.

    Operation Hulkout: Day 680

    10/10, Phase II, Day 11

Net connection at home finally came back 2 nights ago, but I haven't had the time to backtrack and flesh out the skeleton blog entries I posted.

I did manage to upload my May progress pics earlier in the week from somewhere else, though I've already gained a few pounds--some most probably from water weight --since I took those shots.
